Quarter 4 Choice Book Report -Finally!

Quarter 4 choice book report
Eric Magaw
For my fourth quarter choice book report I chose the book Witch And Wizard By: James Patterson. The book was about a brother and a sister who were both being accused by ‘the council’, a group of people who had taken over earth. Whit and Whisty are the two main characters. As the two are being taken form their home Whisty suddenly bursts into flames. This makes the council sure that the two are witch and wizard. The council soldiers allow their parents to give each of them one family item. Whisty gets a drumstick while Whit gets a book with blank pages.
Both Whit and Whisty are taken to a place where their powers are supposedly not supposed to work. While they are sitting there Whit see’s his girlfriend, Celia, and discovers that she had been murdered. In order for the brother and sister to get food they have 10 seconds or else dogs will chase them down and try and kill them.
One day Whisty swings her drumstick around and accidentally becomes a mouse. She then discovers how to control her powers. The same day Whit opened the book and discovered it would become any book that he would want to read. Celia comes back and thinks up a plan on how to get them out. Celia takes them into the world of the dead. Here Whisty and Whit have to find a portal that will take them back to the world of the living. As they are getting close these ‘Shadow Beings’ begin to chase them. The Shadow Beings believe that they can take them back to the world of the living.
Recommendation
I would strongly recommend his book to anyone who enjoys reading James Patterson. It is one of my favorites by him. I have read all of his books so far in the Maximum Ride series. The book was fast paced and always another mystery waiting o e discovered right around the corner.
If I were to give it stars I would give it 5/5. This is one of his best books. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who has read the Daniel X series or enjoyed the Maximum Ride books.
James Patterson himself is a fantastic writer! He is able to bring on heart stopping moments, hysterical humor, and edge of your seat action. I did not want to put any of the books I have read by him down. If you were to read this book I promise you, you will not be disappointed in any way at all. Thanks for reading.

Quarter three choice book report

Tenth Grade Bleeds; The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod By: Heather Brewer
Eric Magaw
For my quarter three choice book report I chose the book Tenth Grade Bleeds. It is the fourth book in the Chronicles of Vladimir Tod. In this story like most books there are tales of love, friendship, and something like the pursuit of happiness.
In the beginning of the book everything seems to be going perfectly for Vlad. He is dating the girl of his dreams and his new vampire skills are improving. Over the summer he has been working with his uncle Otis trying to improve his telepathy over a long distance.
There are the pros but there are also the cons. Vlad acquired a new “stalker” the year before. His name is Eddie Poe. In Vlad’s ninth grade year Eddie came upon the truth that Vlad is a vampire. To Eddie, Vlad is a “monster” and he is totally set to expose Vlad.
Vlad has other problems too though.  His friend/drudge, Henry MacMillan, has been going through a lot of mood swings. Constantly changing what he thought or what he was going to do. Vlad was annoyed with Henry, but he was more worried with his ever growing hunger for blood.
But this is a new thirst. Not from the bagged blood that his Aunt brings him from downers at the hospital. He has been craving blood from the source. Even though Vlad is revolted by the idea of feeding from humans he can barely resist the urge to feed. Vlad ends up breaking up with Meredith because he is worried that he will feed from her. But Vlad has been having other problems with him being a vampire. He is supposedly the “Pravus”. A Vampire born with one vampire parent, the other being human and is supposed to rule of vampire kind and enslave the human race. The main reason why this is also a problem is because there is a group of vampires who want to steal the power of the Pravus and use it to rule over vampire kind.
Review:
I personally loved the book. I love the author Heather Brewer. She is an amazing author. As I said before this is the fourth book in the series. The book was hard to put down. It was full of suspenseful moments but was also full of humor.
I would suggest this book to anyone that loves vampire, suspense, or love stories. Even though I am not the biggest fan of love stories I found myself falling head over heels in love with this book.  I would give it 5/5 stars. It is an amazing installment to the series. Deepening the mystery of the famed Pravus. As the series goes on Vlad begins to talk more and more about his dead father. This also adds to the book series mystery.
I thought that this book series was possibly the best I have ever read. It is never endingly suspenseful. Heather Brewer always had you finding yourself at the edge of your seat. This book is not like any of the Twilight books or anything like that. It is never endingly funny, almost like a satire on anything that you thought about vampire stories

quarter three choice book report

Ninth Grade Slays: The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod by Heather Brewer
Eric Magaw
For my Second Quarter choice book report I chose the book Ninth Grade Slays: The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod. This book was full of love, rejection, deception, action, and friendship. This is the Second book in the series. Here is a quick summary of the first:
Vlad is a normal teen boy. Except for the fact that he is a vampire. When he was young he bit his friend Henry creating a life long bond between the two. Vlad really likes this girl named Meredith, but is nervous to ask her out. It is his eighth grade year. One day his teacher was killed by another vampire. So when his substitute teacher begins to show his true colors a surprising twist brings them together.
In the beginning of Ninth Grade Slays a new person moves to the small town of Bathory. His name is Joss and he is Henry’s cousin. Joss seemed like a normal kid to Vlad. Though Vlad’s Uncle Otis (Vlad’s substitute teacher from last year turns out to be his vampire Uncle) is on edge about Joss. This is Vlad’s first year of High school. Every year Vlad is picked on by the same two kids, Bill and Tom, and this year is no different. Vlad starts getting beaten up by Bill and Tom when Joss comes in and helps him out. Vlad then decides that maybe Joss and him could be friends. Then things take a turn for the worse. Joss begins to fall in love with Meredith and Vlad is mad at Joss. Then Joss shows why he is really there. Joss is a member from the Slayer Society. An organization bent on destroying the vampire race. Vlad has no idea that Joss is apart of this “evil” society. This of course later creates a conflict between the two characters. Though through it all friendship and all of that gooey stuff prevails of course.
                        Review and Recommendations
I loved this book. It was amazingly written and had many exciting twists to the plot. The book series seems as though it could possibly pass as a younger children horror book. The book is also full of humor with some twists of comical satire. It is a funny twist to what you would think of a vampire story. It was a very good book. As metioned before it is part of a series. This is the second book. The first was Eighth Grade Bites, second was Ninth Grade Slays, third being Tenth Grade Bleeds, fourth is Eleventh Grade Burns, and the fifth is Twelfth Grade Kills.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves vampire stories, action, or suspense books. This book dominates all three of those categories. If I would give it a star rating it would be a 10/5. Yes it was that good. This book was a “killer” good book to read. You will find yourself reading late into the night to find out what happens next.
All in all this was a very good book and a very fun read. Heather Brewer will leave you wanting more when you finish this book.

Choice Book Report: Quarter 1- Ink Heart

I read the book InkHeart for my quarter 1 book. I chose the character Dustfinger because this book jumped around a lot from character to characre and Dustfinger was my favorite character. I guess because I can kind of relate to him.
Dustfinger is a very self sacrificing, determined, desperate character. He is in a world that he doesn't belong in. Meaning he was read out of a ficticous world full of fairies, warlocks, and goblins. That books name was InkHeart. Dustfinger's only wish is to be read back into the book by Silver Tongue, the person who read him out, to return to his lover. This is a problem because another character who was read out named Capricorn wants to burn every copy of InkHeart (insert gasps)!!!
Dustfinger like I said before is a self sacrificing, determined, and desperate character. Desperate because he double crossed Silver Tongue and Capricorn just trying to get someone to read him back into the book. Self sacrificing because he gave up his life to save the only thing not evil from his world, a marten with horns named Gwin, because even though it was an animal he thought it equal. And finally determined because he would do anything to get back to his original home.
Dustfinger looks like he had a bad encounter with a knife to his face. This is because one of Capricorns men actually did this to him. He is a very shady looking character like someone you wouldn't want to have a bad encounter with. He is a fire eater and so of course he has burns every where randomly.

So I decided to do the dislike/like thing. I liked the book. It was very complex? I guess? Anyway I would suggest this book to anyone who likes Cornelia Funke or J.R.R. Tolkien. Anyone reading this blog should read it. It is a very well written novel. This book really went out of my regular genre. And I am kind of a book snob. I love to read Science fiction. So even if this book is out of the genre that you normally read it will still capture your imagination and drag you along for a highly tolerable, not very annoying, ride.

Memoir 2

It was a Wednesday night and we were in Centenial for a hockey game. My team was losing 10-1. The other team was gigantic, fast as lightning, and had more practice than we did. We knew we were going to lose.
It was the second period and the ice was cold and unforgiving as ever. My asst. coach said that anyone who scored got an autographed hockey stick from the huskies. That was my main motivation. Like i said before it was the second period and me and Max needed a line change.
Max dumped the puck from the blue line and I skated in as fast as I could. I watched as the puck bounced off of the goalie and started to fall. Time seemed to be at a stand still. I dropped to my knees and began to slide. As time slowed I began to aim for the puck. Just before it hit the ice I swung. At 3 feet from the goal the goalie forgot I was there.
The puck sailed threw the air and hit the back of the net. My victory was short lived as i was still sliding... And fast. I hit the wall at about 15 mph. That really hurt.
Well we still went on to lose the game but I will never forget that night...

Memoir for My Cat Fatty.

I had a cat named Fatty. She was ,as the name could lead you to believe, fat. We got her when she was 5 years old. When my family and I went to go pick her up the old lady could barely bring her out.
A lot of my family was built around that cat. it was really hard to accept the fact that she was dead. I had just finished hockey practice and had gotten into my step-dad's truck we had just started driving away when Paul looked at me and said, "I am sorry Fatty is dead. She was hit by a car...".
I just couldn't believe it... Time seemed to be frozen in place. I didn't know what to do. When I got home everyone appeared to be crying. I still felt as if I was in a daze. I couldn't believe that Fatty the cat that had survived 2 dogs, moving to another state, and stuck in a trunk for a couple of days... had been killed by a car.
The next couple of days at an agonizingly slow rate. Yet I still went to school and acted mostly normal. though I knew my family was never going to get another cat because we would wish for everything that Fatty was. And that was not possible find in any other cat...
